* The National Institute for Staff and Organizational Development (NISOD) Award for excellence in teaching.
International Conference on Teaching and Leadership Excellence NISOD celebrates teaching and leadership excellence each May in Austin. The NISOD conference is the largest international conference to focus specifically on the celebration of teaching, learning, and leadership.
Instructors Flint Anderson, Shay Cardell, and Maren Wilson presented the Aravaipa Learning Community at the NISOD conference in Austin, Texas.

* The Exemplary Initiatives in General Education Award from the National Council of Instructional Administrators (NCIA)
The National Council of Instructional Administrators is the largest council in the American Association of Community Colleges, serving as a voice for instructional administrators and instructional administration.

* The National Council for Student Development (NCSD) 2003 Exemplary Practice Award
Each year NCSD recognizes, through its exemplary practice nominations, outstanding student development programs. The Aravaipa Learning Community received NCSD Exemplary Practice award at the American Association of Community Colleges (AACC) annual conference held April 6 in Dallas, Texas, where Flint Anderson, Aravaipa Student Services Director and one of the first Learning Community instructors accepted the award.

* The Terry O'Banion Shared Journey Award Finalist
Learning Community instructors Shay Cardell and Maren Wilson represented Central Arizona College (CAC) at the NCSD annual meeting in St. Louis, Missouri.
Co-sponsored by The League for Innovation, the 2003 conference concurrent sessions featured finalists for the Terry O'Banion Shared Journey Awards. These finalists shared successful programs developed and implemented for students at their community colleges.
